Response

Restriction status retrieved

The statement of reasons shown to a restricted account (L9, L10).

restricted is false for the overwhelmingly common case — an account that is not restricted at all — and every other field is then null. A trial that has simply run out is not a restriction: it is a contractual default reaching its end, the user is shown the conversion screen instead, and conflating the two would put an accusation in front of somebody who did nothing wrong.

automated
boolean
default:false

Whether automated means were used. Art. 17 requires saying so.

string<date-time> | null

When a human confirmed an automatic decision.

contest_email

decided_at

facts
string | null

The concrete finding, in one sentence.

ground
enum<string> | null

The ground a restriction rests on. Named to the user, in ToS terms.

Deliberately terms-of-service categories rather than criminal characterisations (L11): whether a private provider's verdicts about suspected offences fall inside Art. 10 is unsettled, and we do not need to resolve that to tell somebody which rule they broke.

ILLEGAL_CONTENT and EXPLICIT_SEXUAL_CONTENT are separate grounds end to end, with separate notices and separate handling, because adult content is a terms matter and not a crime.

Available options:
illegal_content,
explicit_sexual_content,
prohibited_use
ground_label
string | null

Plain-language name of the ground.

redress
string | null

How to contest the decision, and to whom.

restricted
boolean
default:false
restriction_type
enum<string> | null

What was done to the account, in the statement of reasons' terms (L9, L10).

Both are account restrictions under DSA Art. 17 and both are owed the same statement. A demotion is one because a demoted account sits at a negative balance and can do nothing, indefinitely — a human having decided it changes who is accountable, not whether the user is owed an explanation.

suspension,
demotion
